Share Your World – 2015 Week 19

I missed last week because I was at the coast with my iPad, and my not-so-trusty-anymore wireless keyboard – which opted to quit working. Pecking out a post one letter at a time on the digital keyboard on-screen was more time consuming than I cared to mess with, so there were no posts from me. Back at home now, and ready to play with Cee.

1. Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels? My townhouse in California was two-story, and I liked that the bedrooms were upstairs, more private. But the stairs seemed to become the place to stack things that needed to go up, because going up more often than really necessary was punishment. When husband and I moved to southern Oregon, our one concession to the inevitability of getting older was opting for a single-story house, and that’s what I have and what I now prefer.

2. If you have a TV, would you prefer the TV in the living room or another room? My TVs have always been in the main “living” room, and most of the time I’ve had only one of those. This house has a living room – which has become my computer/craft room – and a family room which is the main “living” room, and where the TV is. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean it always has to be turned on, so it needn’t interfere with visiting or anything else.

3. When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time? Explain your answer. It depends on whether I’m coming right back into that room or not. If I’m not, lights go out, except an hour or so before bedtime I usually go turn on the bedside lamp because it gets very dark when I turn the family room lights out. I do keep the light in the range hood on in the kitchen in the evening – helps out for those snack runs you know and I have one of my family room lamps on a timer.

4. What’s your favorite room in your home? I guess the family room – then again, it depends on what I’m doing. Maybe it’s the morning room. I spend most of my daylight hours when I’m in the house there – unless I’m working on a craft project or on the computer, when I would be in the living room. Family room is for evenings, unless the kids are here and then it’s for all the time after morning coffee. Unless we’re on the front deck. Okay, so this turned out to be another “it depends” question.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I’m grateful for the week at the coast with the neighborhood girls, The Artistic One, The Gracious One and The Social Flutterby. I’m grateful for the beautiful weather we had. I’m looking forward to getting my motivation back so maybe I can get back into the swing of doing things here at home now that I’m back, but we’re having rainy days and rainy days usually mean being lazy, so that may take awhile.

Now, just a couple of photos from the coast – a gull gathering nesting materials.

  3. I assume the gull was harassing you for food after gathering the nesting materials! (That’s all I ever see gulls doing these days.)
