We are now to the 25th week of Cee’s Share Your World – I cannot believe we are this far into the year! But Cee does not lie and neither do calendars, so I guess I must deal with that reality.
This week’s questions are:
1. If you could choose between Wisdom and Luck, which one would you pick? Wisdom. Wisdom would allow me to make intelligent, appropriate choices in life and give me control over my destiny – or as much control as one ever has.
2. What is success for me?
Success is having a life with enough. Success is having healthy, loving relationships with family and friends. Success is awaking each morning, happy to see the day. Success is having a place to enjoy nature’s flora, fauna and feathered beauties.
3. What is your biggest fear or phobia? (no photos please) Edges. I do not like edges. I would love to do the Grand Canyon Sky Walk, but I think seeing through the glass floor to the bottom of the canyon might feel like one massive edge and my heart would stop.
4. What physical attribute do you like about yourself? Can be anywhere from beauty to heart to physical strength. Well, I think I have a good heart, although perhaps not as generous as I would like. But I think my favorite attribute about myself is my height – I was 5’11” in my younger years, and as a teenager hated it because I was always the tallest one and grew very weary of “how’s the height up there?” comments. Now I am not that tall, and I know where that missing height went. It went right to my midsection, in the form of rolls – creating a distinct muffin-top appearance.
We’ve moved Dora into the family room, largely because Gep will soon be here and it seems unlikely he’d be thrilled to have her on the headboard shelf of his bed, particularly since she loves to run on her wheel all night long. The furry girls are finding her quite fascinating, as you shall see with today’s photo share.

You are taller than I am. regarding the Grand Canyon. I’d like to see it from the bottom. The top looking down doesn’t impress me. I think because it is too much for my mind to make sense out of. Did you know that the average time people spend actually looking at the grand canyon is 8 minutes. Trying to find parking is close to an hour. Don’t know why I went there with you, but ….

Since I don’t believe in luck (or coincidence), I’d have to also pick Wisdom…for all the same reasons. It’s a wonder Dora doesn’t suffer a heart attack with all those furry faces peeking in on her! Hope you’re doing well.

I think when you define success that way, there’s really no need for other considerations. If you have those, then you certainly have enough. The rest is all just icing on the cake.
And I’d choose wisdom, too. At least you can learn from mistakes and move on. With luck, you’re always at the god of luck’s whim…which I guess we all are to some extent anyway, but I’d like to think we can use wisdom to improve our situations.

Although we word it differently, our definition of success is the same: Mine is being satisfied. Yours, a life with enough. When I’m dissatisfied, I’m not walking hand-in-hand with success.

I, too, love your definition of success. I’ve begun using your “enough” way to gauge things in my own life… like my meals. As opposed to having to “clean up my plate” because “children are starving in India” (guilt from my parents to force me to eat more than I should), I now think about whether I am actually hungry anymore, or have I simply had ENOUGH. I think of you every time I use that word… which is often and widespread. Thanks, Carol.

I didn’t answer these on my blog, but I did on someone else’s. I am with you on one and two. For the third one, I wrote crowds; but I could definitely add edges to that.
When my husband and I were 16, we used to ride our bikes to a place called the point. It was a cliff with a tree that sat right on the tip of the point. Someone hung a rope from the tree. Kids would swing out from one edge in a wide arching circle and land on the other edge. On this particular day, just my husband and I were there. He swung out on the rope. It broke. I couldn’t bring myself to walk to the edge to see if he was okay. When he finally managed to climb up to the top of the cliff, I laughed because I was so happy he was okay. That’s the day he learned I was afraid of edges. He asked me out again, anyway.
I am jealous of your number four. I am 5 feet tall, and I was always the shortest. And I got lots of kidding about my size and my name. When I graduated high school, there was only one person shorter than me.

Well, I”m not particularly afraid of edges, but I do seem to have an irrational reluctance to walk on glass-bottomed things over a great height. I went up the CNN tower in Toronto, and despite seeing grown men and little kids dancing all over it, I could NOT bring myself to put more than one foot on the glass floor section!
