Lily Ventures Out

When it stopped snowing, Lily summoned up her courage and decided not to let a little snow bother her. She stood at the morning room door, yelling “out! out! I’ve been confined too long!” And she can yell, let me tell you. A soft, soothing voice she does not have. So I opened the door, let her out, refilled my coffee cup and resumed sitting in my chair, looking out the window. Something funny about that tree.

The tree has growths

The tree has developed a couple of odd growths. Strange, they’re Lily-colored growths.

The growth moves

Ahha! It is Lily. Up in the tree, looking down. At what?

Now I understand

The reason Lily is in the tree. It’s a game they play. Lily goes out, Shasta must follow. Lily runs, Shasta chases. Lily runs up tree. Shasta lingers, but only briefly. She gets bored easily.

While I'm up here, I'll just have a look around

Where are the birds?

Fudge, no birds, might as well get down. Backwards would probably be best.

How much further down must I go?

Down she goes, game over. Let’s do something else. So Shasta followed Lily as she wandered about the yard, walking gingerly through the snow, checking out their world, their perimeters, to make sure there have been no interlopers.

That was then. Last night we got rain. Today there is only a little snow left and the rain continues, off and on. I have to look at the calender to remind myself it’s January.

And the animals all sleep in the warm, dry house.

  3. I didn’t see her head for a long time, because it was snow coloured!!

It’s lovely to see cats playing in trees. They are so much in their element up there, and all the poor dogs can do is look .. and bark!

I also didn’t see her right away. How cute! Too bad the snow didn’t stick around longer.

You must have a great zoom lens to get those shots of her in the tree. I’m amazed she walks in the snow!

  8. I always love your pictures, Carol. Nothing quite so cute as animals enjoying the fresh snow – except maybe little kids!

So cute. I have a couple that like to climb trees and one who climbs trees whenever any other cat comes near her. It’s funny watching them come back down too. Love the pics.
