Alright, Already, Enough!

Normally, I have no problem with staying home, insulated, isolated, quietly enjoying my time to do what I want, and conversing with my furry kids if I have something to say. Or if they start the conversation. Normally. However, I find I get rebellious when I’m told I must do something. Kinda like a cat you know – unless it’s my idea, it’s not a good idea? So – this post. I’m ready to go visit a neighbor. I want to hug a neighbor. I want staying home to be my choice! Because:

1. My wine supply is diminishing.

2. My chocolate supply is diminishing.

3. I want a hug.

4. According to my records, I haven’t done a real grocery shopping since March 20.

5 . I’m starting to think I understand what my furry kids are saying when they talk to me. Is that a sign of something?

6. Going out to pick up pine cones is starting to sound like an adventure. Uh oh.

7. I want salads, because it’s spring. Salads require fresh greens and such.

8. I only have one tortilla left, and when what sounds really good is a tortilla stuffed with beans and rice and cheese cooked in the air fryer, one tortilla is not enough.

9. My wine supply is diminishing.

10. My chocolate supply is diminishing.

11. I want to go visit my kids. That belongs much higher up there, along with #3.

12. Wine and chocolate. Food is a little lower on the list.

Oh, and Kellyanne – Covid 19 is not the 19th version of the Coronavirus. Just thought you might want to know that. You know, for future disclosure of alternate facts.

  1. 😆 gentle laughter at this Kelly person who might think “covid-19′ is the nineteenth version of the damned virus. *snicker* Sorry. He or she probably just opened their mouth at the wrong time or tweeted when they should have just snacked on a worm or something. Um. Thanks for this light hearted list of why many of us are so tired of isolating. In Utah (as far as I know because I refuse to pay attention) we’ve never had the ‘order’ to stay home (even though for folks like myself – chronic illness and ‘older’ it’s a really wise idea). I still chafe at the implication that I’m being told what to do. By people whom I consider to be rather dim in the best of circumstances. Here’s a virtual hug all the same. It ain’t the same, but it’s something anyway. And Amazon is still delivering (not really timely but any life raft in the storm) chocolate and/or wine? Can be at your door in 7 to 12 weeks. 😆

Kellyanne Conway, of the Trump ensemble, said the other day that WHO should have been more on top of things because this is, after all,the 19th COVID. THATS THE Kellyanne of “alternate facts “ a few years ago. Yeah, 7 to 12 weeks just isn’t going to cut it. Not to mention how many things online are out of stock or the prices/shipping costs are ridiculous. I did get some old fashioned oats and rice through Amazon for reasonable prices.

If you post a picture of you in your front window with a sign that says “Out of wine and chocolate” large companies are likely to send you pallets of it.

  3. #6 made me laugh out loud. For me, walking around the perimeter of my backyard has become an adventure. Despite the mud.

  4. Carol — I think I’m going to try Dawn’s suggestion, too. It’s worth a shot!

Poor Kellyanne…you hear nothing from her for the longest time and then bam! She comes back, better than ever. OK. I’m gonna give Dawn’s suggestion a try, too. Will send telepathy through the cats to let you know if it works. Hang in there, Carol.

#6 and #7 ring true with me. I don’t mind being at home either, but like you I want it to be my idea. How can I be a free spirit if everyone’s doing what I’m doing?

I didn’t get hugs before so I’m okay there. I find myself craving cake. I’m out of bread but will virtually send you my 2 remaining tortillas.

I think the beer woman, who got a bunch of Coors (blech!), will be the only one who get wishes come true. But I’ve read of neighbors responding to requests for food, snacks, and booze.

Thank you for the tortillas. My nearest neighbor has said to let her know if I need anything because she works in the bigger town, but there are more things on my list now then I’m comfortable asking someone to get for me.

I can’t believe I’m going to have to go shopping again… I just went a week ago. I seem to be eating cheese sandwiches as though I don’t know how to make anything else.

I’m in a don’t want to cook mode, so I’ve been makings pots of sticky rice and pans of refried black beans to stuff tortillas with. Yesterday I sauteed a pan of veggies too because I thought I should eat some of those too. But the past two nights have been canned tomato soup (first canned soup I’ve had in months) and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I can’t even bother to grill my sandwiches.. it’s usually 2 slices of Kraft cheese between 2 slices of bread, nothing else.
I realized that other than beans & rice I can’t recall anything I used to cook. Very strange!

    So tired. I so relate…

  9. this was fun in a sober, “I can relate” kind of way. Regarding #5 – another blogger wrote that her cats are behaving differently – bonding together when they were standoffish before – that they feel the anxiety in the atmosphere. Maybe you are able to understand what your kitties are saying more than you know! And vice versa!

  10. Yeah, this is getting tedious.
