Share Your World – 3/4 on 3/9/19

I have saved the email notification from Embeecee for several days, but then forgotten it was in the list until I read another blog’s answers this morning. Now that I’m coming out of the fog, I’m going to play along.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person? It depends on the angle from which I’m seeing the person. If I’m seeing them full face, it would be the eyes and the mouth – smiling or not? Weary? Calm? If it’s a side or back view, it would be their clothes, their overall appearance.

What three habits do you feel would improve someone’s life? Eating healthy foods, which I try to do – exercising, which I know I should do – maintaining a positive attitude – which is sometimes hard to do. Especially when the world continually decides it need to be white and cold. Ahh, but that’s a personal problem, isn’t it?

What takes up too much of your time?   Would you stop that if you could? My time, personally? Procrastinating. Putting off what really are simple chores. I need to exercise more self-discipline and just get things done instead of thinking about doing them. It’s not like I’m overworked. I could and should stop and I’m working on will stop.

Cookies (biscuits to those elsewhere), pastries, pie or cake?   If not, what does your sweet tooth crave? Until recently – and actually, probably including now – any of the above, depending upon my mood. Although most recently I have found a healthy muffin recipe I really like and has the added benefit of being good for me, so that’s been my go-to when the sweet tooth strikes. I’m trying to avoid too much sugar and preservatives.

Gratitude?  Are You Happy?  If so, why?  If not, why not? Mostly happy, yes. Completely content? Probably not, but if we were completely content, would we ever change anything or strive for more (and more need not be material possessions)? Why am I happy? Why not? I have a home, I have a furry girl to keep me company, I have food, warmth, transport, friends, people I love – why not be happy? I have, most importantly, adult children whose company I enjoy.

Have I shown you my latest painting? I have nothing going now, waiting for the muse to join me, but I’d like to share my most recent effort.

  2. Thanks, Carol, for Sharing Your World. The painting is beautiful, calm and serene. I’ve got supplies to do some painting, I just need to find my motivation (and it needs to warm up) it’s too cold to paint in my garage, which for now will have to serve as a studio. No room in the house.

Love the painting! I don’t really have a space to do that sort of work and that’s my excuse, and it really is just an excuse, for not trying. We have a dining room we rarely use, and a breakfast room that’s actually bigger than the dining room and has better light. Either would work….but then I wouldn’t have an excuse.

Thank you, Dawn. I manage to find other excuses to not do things – like I have no idea what I would paint, when reality is if I just started I’d end up finding something.

I like your answer: Completely content? Probably not, but if we were completely content, would we ever change anything or strive for more…? This resonates with me and is an idea that keeps me going, even when I don’t really want to.

I like the painting! I ordered a 12-pack of 3″x3″ canvases, and carbon paper, to try some mini portraits of my cats but I only have acrylic pens, not paint and brushes, so (of course) I’ve decided the pens are sufficient and I need more supplies. If get more supplies, I’ll lose interest. It’s just my cycle.

ps: my kitchen windows are each a stack of 9 removable panes which I hardly ever clean due to fear of breaking them. For weeks (months??), I’ve intended to just take the outdoor hose to them but today I actually washed 6 panes by hand (the top 3 on that side are require a ladder and the other side is blocked by dirty dishes)… a MAJOR accomplishment!!
