Share Your World – 2/4/19

There is white stuff out there, that has come in bits and pieces over the past two nights – not a lot of it, but enough to remind me it’s still winter, and to bring cold with it. Not like the Midwest and east had last week, but colder than I like. Which often means it’s below 55. Or 60. It’s 22 out there. Up from 17 when I got up. I’m waiting for the daffodils to blossom. In the meantime, I’ll see what I can do with Melanie’s questions, which, upon first glance, have me baffled as to how I’ll answer them.

What’s wrong but sounds right? Well, what’s wrong is the leadership (so-called) of our country. Except I’m not at all sure it even sounds right. What’s wrong is a man who cannot lead and will not take direction but says he’s the “best president this country has ever had” – to him, I’m sure it sounds right, because to him everything he says sounds right. Why this rant? It’s called the State of the Union address that is to happen tonight, which I know will make me angry, but I also know that I will be drawn to watch it, like a moth drawn to flame.

What physical action or gesture do you find romantic? Small things – a gentle touch that says “I love you”; a cup of coffee delivered with a smile; no negative comments while I’m cooking dinner.

What’s something you really resent paying for? Toilet paper.  Insurance.  Things that are necessary but with questionable benefits. Well, toilet paper might not be so questionable. Although I recognize the benefits more from the bidet attachment I put on my toilet. TMI? Sorry.

What’s your favorite romance movie?  A movie you may find romantic, even if that’s not the genre.  I’ve been watching a lot of those lately, loosely titled “romance movie” and found a surprising number of dramas, action and comedy among the hearts and flowers. I have no idea, primarily because I’m not sure I understand genres, of book or movies. I mean, what makes which one a romance movie or novel? What’s the difference between “thriller” and “suspense”? Was Patch Adams a romance movie? It’s one of my all-time favorites. As was ET, which could have been a romance movie, because of the relationship between ET and the kids, albeit not an adult romance.

And of course we have our gratitude of the week question:

gratitude

What were you uplifted by in the past week? I was uplifted by getting out of bed every single morning, able to move about on my own volition, make my cups of coffee, cuddle with my furry girl, find food in my refrigerator, and warmth in my home. My kids – my friends. The birds outside my windows. Living.

And I finished a painting. One my FB friends have seen, but perhaps some of you have not. This one started in one spot, went to another – I showed you that last week, didn’t I? Well, it went through a couple more metamorphoses before it got here, and I decided to call it done.

  2. Your answers, as usual I’ve found, were spot on. That’s what makes Share Your World so fun to do (in my opinion for what it’s worth) … everyone has a different perception and learning about others’ views is fascinating if one enjoys ‘people watching’. I used to do that by going out to actually watch people, now I do it vicariously behind the screen. Thanks Carol! Your Share Your World was great to read! We think a lot alike, you and I! 🙂

I’m still happy you’e painting again so you have an outlet for your emotions. I’ll watch the state of the union address but don’t think I’ll hear anything different from what is expected. I am extremely disappointed that the Democrats in the House are not willing to compromise on anything after they indicated they would come to the table and talk. This pissing war is only going to end up hurting people. I really don’t think they have a clue how to handle the thousands of people in the caravans poised to descend across the border. But, perhaps they don’t want to. I resent paying my taxes to a government who spends like drunken sailors. And, definitely, insurance. I’m so over winter and need to see the sun again….which may be affecting my mood. xoxox

  4. No negative comments while I am cooking dinner….or even during dinner!
    Or after, for that matter.
My second husband was a doll baby when it came to this. The only way I ever really knew he didn’t like it was that he didn’t have seconds. If I asked him he would say “It’s not my favorite”.

My husband was a meat, starch, vegetable meal person, I’m more a casserole/soup person, and he used to walk through the kitchen and make negative comments. We finally learned to stay out of the kitchen when the other one was cooking.

Laughed out loud, literally, woke Katie up, at your “no negative comments when I’m cooking.”

  6. Liked your comments, and decided you have more stamina than me. I couldn’t watch POTUS. His demeanor and false statements , allegations and biases make me angry and frightened. And in lovely San Miguel the weather is perfect. Spring is here and life is good.

I was fortunate to be busy during Dotard’s speech, which I assume was his usually ego fest. The only clip I’ve seen is when all the women were cheered after dotard accidentally congratulated them. And his subsequent, “you weren’t supposed to do that” comment. Wth?? what did he think they were going to do?

Not at all TMI on the bidet attachment. I was recently looking at them. Did you get one with power or cold water only? Do you have an advice on what features to seek or avoid? Do you recommend whichever one you got?

Yes, the usual exaggerations (taking credit for record setting things that happened during Obama’s terms, lol), distortions, alternate facts. It was funny how he touted the record number of women in Congress when the gain was all Democratic.

The bidet attachment I got was https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074SGRNGL/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. At first I was concerned about the cold water only but it hasn’t been a problem and this isn’t the Caribbean. I’ve been happy with it. My daughter prefers the sprayer attachment, which to me is more awkward.

I laughed SO hard when I got to the image that said ‘clean ass’!!!! It’s about time one of them was frank!

I was looking at similar designs but then started looking for the dual nozzel models and eventually decided I need to do more research. Between my chronic IBSd symptoms and almost bi-nightly violent barfing events I wonder about cleaning it (because I’m not a fan of cleaning).

I haven’t any issues with it getting soiled to the point of needing major cleaning and I have stress decided to visit issues.

Thanks. Vomit splashback is my bigger conern cause it would be on the underside of the pieces. But there are a lot of inexpensive options so it wouldn’t be a big deal to try one then decide to remove it.

I watched that damn SOTU and was mad at myself for doing it the entire time. Raging at him, raging at the tv, spinning right before bed so I slept crummy that night — and yet I couldn’t skip it because there’s some stupid part of me that thought I need to hear what he’s “planning”. I DID greatly enjoy Stacey Abrams response so that made the night better.

I was so wishing I had someone to toss comments at during the speech – Shasta just pretty much ignores them, and that was no help. I wonder if I listen to him just so I can sneer sometimes.

  10. I resent paying for insurance too, especially when I don’t need to claim on it… However, just occasionally, if I have made a claim, I am very pleased that I had it!
