It’s 10:52, do you know where your kids are? Yes, indeed I do. Eufy is working in the family room, Shasta is napping in her big chair. If it were p.m. rather than a.m., they would both be in bed. I keep up with things here!
Now that that’s taken care of, it’s time to share with Melanie.
- Are you thin or thick skinned? Are you easily offended or tend to let it just roll off your back like a duck does with water? I think in my younger days I was more thin-skinned than I am now. Usually things that could offend roll off my back, although sometimes totally innocent comments will make me think for a moment or so – “should I be concerned?” In reality, I think our society spends far too much time being offended. We all need to get lives.
- How important are morals in a healthy society? What are the most important morals for citizens to have? (Credit to Rory for this question) Morals are very important – without them we are nothing more than barbarians. Those virtues that I believe are most important are empathy, courage, honesty, tolerance.
- What will your epitaph be? Epitaph?! Say what!? That would imply I’ve died – that’s not on my list of things to do. Yes, I know – not a choice. I’m going to be cremated, there will be no place for an epitaph. Moot point.
- (I don’t admire either/or questions much, which is why you won’t see ‘em often. Today is an exception) French toast, pancakes or waffles? Probably French Toast, unless my mood changes. Then pancakes. Waffles are a rare craving for me to have. The French Toast has to be made with a thick sliced bread and a custardy dipping mixture.
- What were you grateful for this past week? Sunshine, warmth – relative thing, of course, but warmer than normal temps. The same thing I do not want in the summer. Conversations with my kids and friends. Bird song, squirrel antics, my furry girl.
I have a painting in progress – it started like this
Then grew some trees, but I wasn’t happy, so it morphed to this
Where it will go from here I do not yet know.
I take no offense to anything you’ve written here. 😉
It’s interesting to see how your painting has morphed. I think there’s a message in that about not taking offense if something doesn’t go your way. Re-think and start over. Or something like that.

Whew! What a relief it is – I was concerned I’d be offending somebody. I like your message interpretation – rethinking is probably a good idea in many situations.

Thank you. Maybe some stairways to the stars. . .

I do agree with you about being more thin-skinned when we were younger. I bite back now! I have no time to be thin-skinned. Cremated? Me, too. With ‘The Eagles’ greatest hits playing in the background. I want to take it to the limit one more time. 😀

I’ve been away from the blogging world too long and I missed the news that there’s a new Share Your World host!
Question 1 reminded me of a saying I love and try to live by (original author unknown to me) – “What people think of me is none of my business” – so I guess my reply to the first question would be that I’ve developed rather a thick skin. 😉
I love the colours in your painting. It will be interesting to see where it will go from here. 🙂

I love your painting, both beginning and middle/maybe sorta heading toward end. The colors are beautiful!

the food question, for me, depends on where I am. Up in Newbury Park at the little cafe with the INSANELY GOOD hollandaise sauce? After eggs benedict and fries (a common combo there, with extra hollandaise for dipping fries cause it’s that good), I’d get a belgain waffle. they added cinnamon and vanilla to theirs and they were AMAZING. (man, I wish that place wasn’t 70 miles away!)
but here in Long Beach? I’d go to The Pan for their stuffed french toast… either the strawberry + cream cheese version or the off-menu PBJ version. They also have things like pineapple pancakes, which are great for my roughly once-a-year craving for pancakes.
So… what do you want done with your ashes after cremation?

I want my ashes spread in the ocean so I can hear the sound of waves forever.

I want mine turned into an EternalReef so I can be in water and support new life.

You are more magnanimous than I. Mine was a selfish answer rather than something for the good of the sea.

The first painting looks like the ocean. The 2nd a fast moving river. Whatever it ends up, it will be just what you wanted it to be. :>

forgot to ask… where did your first line come from? I know several sources for it…just wondering if ours overlap.

I’m not certain – I think there used to be commercials on TV that asked that question. It’s just one of those useless things that flops around in my brain, and it wanted to be released when I was writing. But I think it came back to roost in my brain, where it’s warm and rarely disturbed.

Yeah… it was a PSA back in the day. I picked it up from KROQ radio in the 80s, which used to make fun of it… “it’s 10pm in Pa-sa-deh-na… do you know where your poodle is?”

Dawn there’s probably a way to post a photo in comments, but I haven’t figured it out, so I posted it on Facebook.
