Share Your World – May 21, 2018

The skies above me were blue when I got up – late this morning, because Shasta wore herself out yesterday – but are now turning gray. Perhaps we really will get that rain they’re predicting. My outside jobs all require several hours without rain after they’re done, so I think it is inside for me today. Might as well go ahead and play with Cee, don’cha think?

What household chore do you absolutely enjoy doing? (can be indoor or outdoor) You’re joking, right? A household chore that I absolutely enjoy doing? There are some that are more rewarding than others, in that you can actually see that you’ve done something – but enjoy? I enjoy what I can see I’ve done that lasts. Little in the realm of household chores fits that description. I probably come closest to enjoying (but I’m eliminating the “absolutely” here) when I finish dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, cooking a meal that’s good, for as long as I can tell I’ve done it. There is some satisfaction there. Momentary. Not absolute.

Create a sentence with the words “neon green” and train”.
The train approaching on the track to the right of the highway appears to have a neon green engine; how very unusual!

Other than your cell phone what can you always be found with? A kleenex, in my pocket or next to me. Because. This nose likes to drip. At awkward, unforeseen times. Just to remind me it’s there, and it’s in control.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination. Ummm. Looking forward to my daughter’s return home for the summer. Preparing the house so there are separate quarters for her cats and my dog – her cats don’t know about dogs, and my dog is not sure about cats that have not been her own for awhile. Or things besides her that get my attention. Hoping my son has time in his summer to be with us for awhile.

Uh oh. This chair has served as the resting place for my wooden tub planter for 18 years. I think it just quit its job.

Your chair picture is perfect for something. Definitely it stopped working. You can Chris sound the same with the runny nose. 😀

Chores you like to do? I dunno. That sounds like a trick question to me. The chair photo is a keeper, even if the chair isn’t.

  3. You used a semi colon in a blog post. I just had an orgasm 🙂

Oh! Exciting! I do use semi colons now and then, although I much prefer the not-so-correct dash – which I never ever used when I was in school.

  4. Carol — I enjoy handwashing dishes (not pots/pans), but I despise drying them.

Unless what I’ve handwashed is one of my stainless steel pans, I drip dry things. Hand washing is for things I don’t put in the dishwasher – I used to hate that job, but actually now I don’t mind it. I didn’t think of that – maybe I don’t consider it a chore?

It’s difficult to come up with a chore I enjoy doing. I’m like you — I enjoy it after it’s finished and I can sit in a clean house/room. I have a drippy nose, too. My father says I inherited it from him. His is worse than mine. Perhaps that is a sign of things to come.

Housework and enjoyable are rarely used in the same sentence….perhaps for some but not me! I like to cook, but Entrepreneur doesn’t enjoy meals anymore, so there’s little gratification there these days. And, I think that chair just told you it wants a new job….as the perfect photo opp! Plant some interesting perennials around it and see what Mom Nature does with it! xoxox

Oh no–housework! I’m trying to think if anything is enjoyable… Hmmm, the truth is that I am always convinced that housework is NOT enjoyable. However, sometimes while doing it, a smile can arise and I discover it’s really not that bad. 🙂

Your first answer cracked me up! The concept of absolutely enjoying a chore is so foreign to me that my eye substituted “hate.” So now there are blog readers out there who think I absolutely love mopping. Bwahahaha!!!
