Share Your World – Twice

While my kids were here for the holidays, I focused on them – thus, I am behind in sharing my world with Cee. Today, I will first share for December 25 – which, by the way, was a very pleasant day in my house. We had brunch with the neighborhood friends, then Gep and Kat prepared a delicious prime rib dinner for the three of us. Happiness.

What caring thing are you going to do for yourself today? That would have been the same thing I allow myself nearly every day of the week – the afternoons to mostly do what I choose to do. Nap, walk with Shasta, ink, read, whatever is calling me at the moment. Because I can.

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper) Oh gosh. I guess that will be what I seem to use the most: cinnamon, cumin, chili pepper, Herbes de Provence (for my herb bread and scrambled eggs), garlic powder. Or maybe basil.

What can you always be found with? With rare exceptions, my phone. A kleenex in my pocket. Pockets – and I hate it when there are none in what I’m wearing. A smile – okay, complete honesty: almost always a smile. Unless I just read another article about our government, then it would be a frown.

Now, for the week of January 1:

What one word describes you best? Kat and I discussed this before she left because I could not come up with one word to describe me. We finally decided that word would have to be “enough”, because I believe I am enough, I have enough, and I have had enough. I have enough impatience, patience, tolerance, intolerance, fairness, prejudice, love, anger – to be pretty well-rounded. We think. Others may disagree, but truly that is not my problem is it?

What is set as the background on your computer? In the past when I had Windows PCs, I would set photos I liked as my background pictures. Then I switched to a Mac, and I am quite content with the background photos Apple provides. I especially like the one with the elephant and the one with the lion.

If you have been to a foreign country name those you have been too? I’ve been to a few: Mexico, Canada, Aruba, Curacao, Costa Rica, Panama, England, Poland, China, South Korea. I would like to add to this list, and I will, one day. That’s a promise to me.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination. For both of the last two weeks, I appreciated having Gep and Kat home with me. I appreciated lunch with them at the local brewery. I appreciated evenings in front of the TV, trying to stream programs while we all felt a need to quick check something on the internet – a challenge my internet is not up to. Dinners prepared by them, glasses of wine with them.

As to inspiration, I have grown tired of the furniture arrangement in my family room, but the size of my furniture and the number of windows in that room make it very difficult. Last night, I came up with an idea that might work quite well for me and moved a few pieces- today I will finish shoving furniture around and see how it ends up.

I have no new photos or paintings to share, so I will go back in time and offer an older painting in honor of the holidays, which I hope were happy for all of you.

  2. I’m so glad you had a wonderful holiday with your family, Carol. Enough, that’s a good word. I like how you include the negative and positive traits, after all, we all have those. I’m sure you’ll be adding to your list of countries before long! šŸ™‚

‘Enough’ is a great way to be, Carol! I hope that would apply to me, too.

I don’t like background pictures which move and shift, so I usually set one of mine. At the moment, it’s a close-up of two of Albertine’s beautiful blooms. I can almost smell them!
