Flash Fiction – Because Help is Needed

This morning Ally Bean pointed me to Lemon Shark who was challenging people to post a 50-word flash fiction, to raise funds to help the people of Puerto Rico. It’s a worthy worthy cause, so check in and see what you can do.

I am not a writer of fiction, but here’s my attempt:

As darkness crept in, seeping into all corners of the house, encapsulating the neighborhood, so did fear and anxiety. She could not see in the darkness, could not be sure danger was not approaching, threatening, about to overtake her.

She had always been afraid of the dark – now her city was without power, without food, without water. Her fear threatened to consume her. Who could help?

About Carol

I'm me - nothing unusual, just me. Widowed, 2 grown children who are my best friends, 1 dog, retired, loving being retired. I am woman, I am strong.

I think we all fear the unknown and this situation resonates with most everyone. Not sure what I would do or feel if my life was plunged back into an 1800s era of having to survive.
