It’s March. The weather keeps reminding me it’s March – Mother Nature likes to display all of her powers and talents in March. Right now, for this minute at least, it’s snowing. It will amount to nothing, because it’s March. In another minute or two, the sun could be peeking through. Or the snow could become rain. It’s a matter of wait and see. Whatever it is, I will be staying inside today, and for now, I’ll be sharing with Cee, and anyone else who cares to stop by.
Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)? To my knowledge, no. I suspect my first and middle name were simply what was popular when I was born. My maiden surname was Boe, which made me Carol Boe – in my youth, the older generation liked to be “funny”, by asking if I was related to Clara Bow. Now I see puzzled looks on many of your faces – Clara Bow was a big star in silent films. That pretty much dates me, doesn’t it?
Music or silence while working? For me, silence. I often think about turning some music on, but I rarely do. Because. Silence is a good thing.
If you had a special place for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronics, people or animals), what would they be? Oh gosh. Could we make this special place some place I’d actually remember, unlike my “safe” places? But what on earth would my special possessions be anyway, since the things I’d be most likely to name have already been eliminated? I guess, for now, my inks and inking supplies. Maybe a couple of my knick knack things – perhaps the figurines of Don Quixote, one is by Nao and the other a funky figure my daughter brought back from Mexico several years ago, and maybe a couple of my cat figurines. This question is telling me I have a whole lot of stuff cluttering this house that isn’t that important to me, so why is it so hard for me to get rid of it?
The Never List: What are things you know you never will do? I will never:
1. Go skiing
2. Go bungee jumping
3. Jump out of a plane or helicopter
4. climb in a barrel to go over a waterfall – for that matter, go over a waterfall at all
5. Climb Mount Everest
6. Visit Antarctica – it’s snowy and cold there. And pieces keep breaking off into the ocean.
7. Visit Russia.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I am grateful for the couple of days my son spent with me on his return from Ecuador, before he left for southern California to start a new phase of his life. I am grateful for the few little blooms that are appearing, consoling me when Mother Nature sprinkles cold white flakes all over us. I am looking forward to more signs of spring, more sunshine days. I am grateful for and looking forward to each breath that I draw and my place on earth.
Now, because a little self-promotion is necessary, the picture for this week – Midnight Skies, alcohol ink on Yupo.

I can definitely see your inks and supplies in your special place. And yes, you will always remember where it will be. Right now this minute is is sunny here. But with the amount of clouds i won’t be lasting long. We won’t get snow, but we are suppose to get a fair amount of rain.

Your Midnight Skies painting is beautiful. 🙂 I am the same way about silence and music. I think about putting on some music, but rarely do it. I wonder why?

The painting is, as usual, beautiful.
I read three SyW posts in sequence, and all three have listed bungee jumping. As have I 🙂

To me, bungee jumping looks like a great way to disconnect parts that are meant to be connected.

I’ve always assumed I’d come undone or they’d mismeasure and hit a rock.

I do like your paintings, this one is lovely as usual. Looks like a lot of us bloggers don’t enjoy dangerous pastimes which is either because none of us are young or else we blog because we don’t do a lot of active things. I would not mind seeing Antarctica from a cruise ship. I’d like to see whales and penguins but perhaps it’s wrong to make a tourist attraction out of one of our last wild places. I did go to Russia but that was 30 years ago almost.

Age probably has a lot to do with our choices of what we wouldn’t do, although I wouldn’t do a lot of those things even when I was younger – skiing and bungee-jumping both seem like a great way to disconnect parts that are meant to be connected, and do not appeal to me.

Same here, I would never have chosen to do any of those things even when I was young.

I’m with you on your Never List. So many nicer things to do closer to home and/or while standing on the earth. Your artwork is lovely, the colors are amazing.

Carol — I’m with you. No music when I’m working. SILENCE is golden.

Oh! Gep is back in the States? That’s exciting!
My middle name is my great aunt’s first name. I always liked her, and the name even if it’s uncommon now: Lorene. She lived and thrived into her late 90’s. I hope I’m like that.
I’m in my mid-30’s. I think maybe I shouldn’t have a Never list. Life’s so unpredictable. I never thought I’d have lived in Georgia or Michigan, but there I was, and here I am. Who knows what’s coming?

I actually read some of his blogs featuring that work. California should be a good place for him to do that!
