Happy Spring! It’s showing up here in small ways – the daffodils are growing upwards, some with buds but a long time yet to bloom, my early peonies have little red sprouts popping, and the grass, now free of the snow covering, is greening nicely. We’ve had rain, enough to wet the ground too much to be out raking and weeding and prepping, so instead I sit inside trying to chase my spring allergy reactions away. Obviously, a good time to play with Cee.
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? I dunno, maybe 40 or 50? Or thereabouts. Mentally, at least. My body says “who you trying to kid?”
So, you’re on your way out and it’s raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house? I know where my umbrellas are. Because there is one in the utility room near the back door, right where it belongs, and at least two in the car. Wait – I may have lied to you. There might be another one somewhere else around here. Somewhere safe. But I do know where some of them are. I have this thing about having an umbrella available but do I always use it? Ha! I’m not sweet enough to melt, I tell myself.
Do you recharge your energy by going out with friends for a good time or by spending with quiet time alone? I recharge by spending quiet time alone, although I think I may be doing a little too much recharging lately. It’s comfortable, this time alone, doing what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it. As soon as the sun beings to shine more often and the yard dries up a bit, there will be much less of that, so I rationalize that I should enjoy it while I can.
Name three things you and your spouse, partner or best friend to have in common. Hmmm. My kids and I, who are my very good friends, both need that time alone for recharging. We have that in common. We like to travel, but we also like to come home. My daughter and I need to have pets around. Life is not complete without furry kids. I’ve just given you the easy answers, but there are many things my other friends and I have in common too.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I am grateful that gradually my-sinus-inciting-allergies are fading. I am grateful that each day there are more signs of spring. I am grateful that I wake up every day, am able to get out of my bed unaided, have books to read, inks to play with, naps to take. I am looking forward to more of the same.
I finally, finally finished Zoey – the commissioned project from a very good friend. I had so much trouble capturing her, getting her personality, for some reason. But here she is, and soon she will be on her way to her mom’s house.
I am all for easy answers. Glad spring is starting to pop around where you live. We are definitely finally looking like early spring around here.

I like your gratitude list. I’m waiting for spring, too, and know that I will be much busier with the out-of-doors activities coming up. I’m looking forward to it, but at the same time, don’t want to give up my life of leisure. Presently, I’m living like a cat – eating, sleeping, using the litter box, and occasionally getting some exercise.
Zoey is adorable!
Enjoy your week.

That’s a lovely picture of Zoey. I have umbrellas in several places – in the car, by the front door and in my bag! A day or two ago I changed to use a very small handbag (rather than the larger one I usually carry) for a trip out to meet a friend and of course there was no room in it for my folding umbrella. Guess what? I rained. Luckily not too much, and I didn’t dissolve. 🙂

Your painting of Zoey is wonderful. So glad to hear you are finally seeing some signs of spring. I know this has been a long winter for you.
I wouldn’t be able to find an umbrella, but I do have a rain coat. 🙂
