This week for Robyn’s July One Four Challenge I chose a photo I took in a restaurant in Nha Trang, Vietnam in December. I was taken by the colorful umbrellas they had hanging from the ceiling.
I opened the original in the editor of Photoshop Elements, adjusted the levels to lighten the photo because the original was taken in dim lighting, then straightened it – because I have a tendency to tilt the camera a little – and cropped.
I then created a new layer, sharpened it a bit using the high pass filter, and set the blending mode to hard light. I added a vignette, and decided to call it good for this week.
Nice work – the vignette is subtle, and the rest of the PS work is unnoticeable – the best kind of PS work.

Thank you, Cee. Not sure what I’ll do with it next – start fiddling and see where it ends up, I imagine.

Thank you, Lisa. It was an open air restaurant with really high ceilings.

You have balanced everything in this photo beautifully and I think the vignette finishes the edges off just right. It will be interesting to see where you go from here. ๐
