One Four Challenge – Week 1 Girl On The Beach

I have been watching some of the bloggers I follow participate in Robyn’s Fine Art One Four Challenge for several months now, and this month decided to play along, hoping it would get me back into playing with some of my photos in a more artistic way – something I used to do, but somehow fell away from.

I chose as my primary photo one taken on the beach in Vietnam in December

Using Photoshop Elements 13 I cropped the photo to remove the girls father, duplicated the layer, then set the blending mode to lighten, after which I merged the layers. I again duplicated the layer, went to the Artistic Filter>Poster Edges and adjusted settings until I was happy with what I had. As my final action, I changed the blending mode to dissolve. My result is this:

The challenge is to edit the same photo in different ways each week for four weeks – I have no idea what I’m going to do for the next three weeks!

Hi Carol – welcome to the One Four Challenge 😃 So pleased youre joining us!
I like your chosen image and will look forward to it as it progresses through the month. Nicely done with the crop and I enjoyed seeing the sandy/grainy result of blend mode/dissolve. I do hope you have some fun experimenting a bit this month.
Really like your ‘about’ description above 😃

Oooooo, what fun! Love your edits and am sure your had a great time playing around with the photo! I’d love to have time to do that again. Sadly, it seems my free time has all but disappeared. 😦

I like this one, too, but I think the watercolor effect of week 2 is my favorite so far of the series. Looking forward to week 4 now that I’ve seen what you’re up to!
