I know, two posts in one day! But it’s a chilly, cloudy, rain-threatening day, and it just seems like a good day to stay inside, in front of the computer, and play. Besides, I have these pictures that are crying to be shared.
The first is the underside of the bridge where highway 101 crosses the Beverly State Beach:
Another day I will share the photos of our walk on the beach, but today it’s all about bridges.
The second bridge is just before a scenic viewpoint, also on highway 101, where we saw a whale blow, then the back of the whale, and watched the seawater spouts as the waves hit the rocky cliff.
And one of my favorite Oregon coast bridges – the Yaquina Bay Bridge. This is one of Conde McCullough’s bridges, which proliferate along the Oregon coast and which I think are some of the most beautiful and graceful bridges in existence. We arrived at this bridge after dinner on a cloudy evening, just as the sun broke through to cast its golden glow, so I took pictures from several vantage points.
Awesome! I love bridges…these are so pretty!

Ever since I starting teaching bridge structures to my grade five classes I’ve become obsessed with bridges. I was in heaven when I went to Rotterdam a few years back. They have so many old and new bridges and lift, arch, cable stay, beam and suspension bridges. The Netherlands is full of canals and international waterways and without bridges no one would be able to get very far with a car. Great post.

I love bridges – and the detail in some of them is amazing.

I dread having to drive over bridges (nobody talk, nobody breath until we are across!), but I love taking pictures of them. That Yaquina Bay Bridge is a stunner, Carol! Beautiful!
