Share Your World – 2015 Week 9

I am so impressed with myself – here it is, the day Cee has issued her challenge to Share Our Worlds and before noon at that! I should not be so impressed as I’m pretty sure you all know that this is just me avoiding doing the things I should be doing.

1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? Good question – don’t know if I could put a specific age on it, but I do know my mind thinks I’m a whole lot younger than I am. Maybe 50 or thereabouts? Some of this, of course, depends on the day and what I’ve been doing, which means how much my body is reminding me that I am the age I am.

2. Are you left or right handed? Right-handed – so right-handed! My left hand is there only to balance things out and to sometimes assist my right hand.

3. If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to? Alexis? Sarah? Skye? I don’t know but it would be short. I don’t know that I think of me as a name. I think of me as me. Whatever/whoever that might be.

4. Where do you hide junk when people come over? I don’t. Because the junk I have sitting around has usually been where it is long enough I no longer see it – until after someone has been here and is gone. If I know people are coming before they arrive, then I would straighten up whatever piles might be around, rearrange a little so things are less obvious – maybe resort to actually putting things in their proper places. Most of my “junk”, however, is on my desk and rarely do we go into that room anyway. I have little baskets of things I think I might need near places I sit, so it looks relatively organized – this is because I have this “need” to have whatever I think I might want close at hand. Always. Heaven help me if I might have to actually get up and walk a few steps to get something.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? Hmmm. Always I am grateful for each day I get out of bed and can see the world outside my windows. Always I am grateful for my friends and loved ones. I am looking forward to going back to somewhat warmer weather this week and getting a little more yard cleanup done.

Today I have gone back into my archives and resurrected a few photos taken when husband and I went to the east coast in 2009.

The Purple Door

The Penobscot Bay Bridge that was being worked on at that time – we were on our way to Bar Harbor, ME when we stopped and it was at this rest stop that we met a very pleasant gentleman with his dog (I was missing Bailey and needed a dog fix) who told us we should follow him to Stonington, Me which was what Bar Harbor used to be. We did.

Isn’t it funny how we live with ourselves and our names our whole lives, and our names mean so little to us. I don’t know what my name should be. I suppose my friends and family all think I should be “Heather,” and that’s good, because that’s who I apparently am 🙂
Love that purple door. And the boats. And the weather that permits boating. It’s sunny here, and in the mid 20’s so I am happy 🙂 I have enough.

  6. Nice photos! Although I have to admit, the most amazing thing to me when I saw your post is that it is already week 9 of 2015. Where does the time go!

  7. I never have time to do Cee’s questions any more, but it’s always fun to read people’s answers. I can think of lots of names I’d rather have than Cathy. And I think if I could be in my late 30s or early 40s again, I’d like that a lot. Although, I think the years in my 50s have been the most adventurous. 🙂 Your pictures are fabulous, especially the Mayflower replica, the flower boxes and the purple door.

The problem with picking an age to go back to, Cathy, is that we worked so darn hard to get to the age we are. Do we really want to go through all that again?

      • That’s for sure, Carol. Actually, when I really think about it, I think I”m perfectly happy to be where I am. Before 50, I’d never had any adventures, and I’ve loved all I’ve done in the last 8-10 years. 🙂

Ha – I take photos of doors, too! I’m sure people sometimes think I’m mad, or a stalker or something!

Interesting question about the age… My body reminds me that I’m no spring chicken in far too many ways, far too often, so I would be reminded that I’m not forty anymore, or I’d say that!

I’d like to change my name to Queen of the Universe……just a thought. 🙂 I actually did think about that seriously, but came up with nuthin’. Guess I’m stuck with who I am for now. Your shots of the harbor and town are beautiful. Wonderful memories.

  13. HI Carol,
I really enjoyed this post. That purple door is an eye-catcher. It also brought back sweet memories of taking the kids to Plimouth Plantation and touring the Mayflower as a part of a family heritage tour. (We are descended from John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley, but of course everyone in this country is related to someone on the Mayflower if they’ve been here for more than a generation or two).
Thanks for letting me tag along!
