Share Your World – 2015 Week 5

Time again for Cee’s challenge. I seem to be on a “post this on Wednesday” schedule of late.

1. Do you prefer shopping or going to a park? Occasionally I feel like shopping, when I can meander around and look at things that are fun to buy – which means it’s not grocery shopping day. But I am not really much of a shopper – I’d rather wander around a park or someplace outside with my camera. Grocery shopping is such a drag – I mean, we have to take items off the shelves, put them in a cart, take them out of the cart and put them on a conveyor belt and in some stores we have to then put them in bags, haul the bags to the car, haul the bags to the house, take things out of the bags and put them away. So many repetitive motions – doesn’t seem very efficient to me. Or fun.

2. If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why? Most days, something comfortable with a cushy sole. In the summer, a comfy sandal. In the cooler weather, a good sneaker. Occasionally though, it would be fun to be something feminine and pretty, something that would go to a nice party with friends, complimenting a sparkly dressy outfit. Something young and flirty. But not very often. Comfort reigns.

3. Whatโ€™s the story behind a time when you got locked out? Years ago, I pulled in to a gas station to get gas, and while the car was filling I ran in to the ladies’ room. But I left my purse in the car, so I locked the doors. Makes sense, right? Uh huh. Until I came out and realized I’d left the keys in my purse inside the locked car. In this case, my saving grace – and another stupid move on my part – was that I’d left the sun roof open, so I was able to climb in and retrieve my keys. Of course, anyone could have done the very same thing. Brain on break.

4. Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts? With nuts. Nuts add that extra something to most foods. Some of my best friends are nuts.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? A nice long walk with Shasta girl, followed by a shorter walk with Bailey girl. Time with friends. Emails from my kids. Quiet time in the comfort of my home. In the week coming up? I’m looking forward to more of the same, rainy days to stay inside and read my books and comfort food. With some healthy food mixed in there.

This week, a few miscellaneous photos.

  1. Hi Carol! Visiting from Cee’s SYW. I am with you on the park. Comfy shoes too. And I love quiet time inside my house. I think that is why I love winter.. quiet time cocooning inside the house with comfort food and books… and blogs. Blogs are like lovely long books! I enjoyed my visit here.

Your girl looks so snuggly, and your outside photos look so spring-y. Or perhaps that’s some wishful thinking on my part.
I’m not surprised that with “park” for #1, and “comfy” would be #2. I’m the same way. I’d point fingers and call some of my friends nuts, but I should look a little closer to home first ๐Ÿ˜‰

Aww, your deer is coming right up to the house …and helping himself to the bird food. ๐Ÿ™‚ Little cheeky, he’s so beautiful. (I guess he thinks nuts add that certain je ne sais quoi to the day too)!

The deer in the last shot looks a little guilty. lol! Enjoyed your answers as always. Comfort is important to me, too, when it comes to footwear. And clothing. And lots of other things, I suppose.

Fun answers to these questions, as well as the visitors to your yard! I keep thinking about doing another Share Your World post but by the time I think of it the week is pretty much over and it is nearly time for Cee to post new questions! I have to tell you a quick bit about my grocery shopping – at my store I get to skip one of those repetitive steps. They have these electronic scanners that you take around the store with you and scan all your bar codes as you place your items into bags you bring with you in your cart. The scanner totals everything that you buy then when you get to the register you just have to scan your order and pay and leave! I love skipping the conveyor belt step!

I love that concept but how does the store know people have scanned every item?

They do random audits when you get to the register. Every few months it seems. A cashier comes over and selects some items to scan to check to see if you scanned. I’m sure this system doesn’t catch everything, but it must do enough to satisfy the store. Despite this convenience, I’d say a majority of shoppers don’t use this system and still shop the “traditional” way.
