Life Gets Busy

You know how when you’re still working, you dream of the time you’ll retire, when you’ll have so much time to do what you want? I remember when I thought that. In fairness, I do have a good deal of time to do what I want. Most of the time. Lately it seems life has been busier. Just don’t ask me what I’ve been doing. Not sure. Whatever it is, it sure sucks the days up.

There are things – like trips 30 miles down the road to our “big” town. Two so far this week, another tomorrow. Like lawns that need mowing, weeds that should be pulled – but wait, maybe it’ll bloom and then we can call it a flower. Dishes to be done, laundry to be washed, dried and then folded and put away. I’m good at parts of that – but somehow it’s rare for a load of laundry to be completed in one day. House to be cleaned. Or sort-of-cleaned. Pine needles to rake up – how can these trees lose so many needles and still have needles? Kind of like how Shasta can shed so much hair and not be bald, I guess. Pine cones to be picked up. Always. Frequently.

TV to be watched. That accounts for a good part of many evenings. I think I have not missed a house hunt or a Property Brothers renovation, or Food Network’s chopping. And then there’s the streaming – Netflix, Amazon, all those channels for streaming. Getting hooked on shows, silly shows.

Naps to be taken. That’s important. That allows me to stay up too late, so tomorrow I’ll need another nap. Gotta stick to the routine. Actually, I’m trying to break that routine, but it gets hard to resist anytime after lunch until about 7:00 p.m. So here I am. Sitting on my front deck enjoying a nice breeze and a glass of lemon/cucumber/mint infused water. Heading back to Costa Rica. I still have lots of pictures from that March cruise I haven’t shared and a few more recent photos to share, but I’ve opted to go back to Costa Rica today to show you some of the more exotic things that we saw when we were in the Veragua Rain Forest. First, a pretty red flower. Of some kind. A pretty kind.

So now maybe I’ll go mow some of that lawn. I have a couple of hours before the sprinklers come on. Yes, that sounds like a good idea! While I’m mowing, you sit back, put your feet up, have a glass of wine or beverage of your choice, and appreciate this life that offers enough if we are willing to see it.
