It has been a long time since I have participated in one of Ailsa’s Travel Themes, but this week when I saw the topic I knew I had some pictures that fit the bill and the urge to blog has been strong, so here we go!
Down road from my house in an abandoned property, a remnant of someone’s life.
That same abandoned property, either more remnants of that life, or deposits made by others – because it was easy.
Driving on the back roads not far from home, in cattle country
and one of my all-time favorite signs.
On the coast, signs of the effects of salt water air on steel.
I’ve posted some of these before, so to those of you who remember seeing them, I apologize. To the many new followers who have joined me since I posted these pictures, they will still be new. And to those new followers, welcome! You all make my heart smile.

What do you think archeologists will make of our society hundreds of years from now? These metal ruins may some day be as puzzling as the Mayan ruins or the Native American pictographs. Will they appear primitive be seen as the waste of a materialistic society?

They’ll probably be seen as primitive. Our plastic leavings, however, will surely be seen as the waste of a thoughtless society.

What a great variety and collection? The first photo really grabbed my attention as when I was a kid my Mom used a wringer washer….and my pigtail got caught in it once. Not a good scene.

I really liked this metal series. Especially that congested sign. How funny! There is a place a couple hours from here with metal art. Maybe should visit it some day.

The “congested” sign brings back amusing memories. When we lived in Kentucky, there were a couple of those posted way out in rural areas where it would be hard to imagine anything ever being congested!

Isn’t it great how old, abandoned items make such wonderful photo pops?! I laughed at the sign…never seen that one before. I always ponder what life was like for the people when they owned these things.
