There Really is a Sun!

20121224-090022.jpg This morning we received an early Christmas gift – sunshine, and no snow falling from the sky! Amazing, just amazing! There is, of course, a good deal of snow on the ground, and the temperature is not going to cause any of it to melt since it is under 20 out there. The icicles on the corner of the house are growing, but they sparkle and so we call them a Christmas decoration.

This is the first day for about ten days that we have seen sunshine that has lasted for more than ten minutes, and the first time we have seen blue sky with only a few tiny little thin clouds in at least that long. We have well over a foot of snow on the ground in the areas not sheltered – I’m going to guess about two foot actually, based on how much of the tall sprinklers I can see out there. It is going to be a lovely white Christmas indeed. The timing of this nice weather could not be more perfect because, you see, we have agreed to meet Santa at the airport tonight at 11:21 p.m. to pick up our Christmas gifts – our son and daughter. We are being watched over.

So today as all of us finish our preparations for the celebration tomorrow, I shall take advantage of the fact that there is no snow falling from the sky, the winds are not blowing and the sun is showing and go to town for a few dog and people food items. The Gracious One is going to go with me – she will also be picking up her Christmas gift with us tonight – her husband has been at the sick bed of a dear cousin for the past two weeks. We will celebrate the arrival of our loved ones – well, we will celebrate as much as people our age celebrate at that time of night. We will be joyous, that is certain.

To you and all of yours, we wish you a Christmas as joyous as ours! We wish you enough.

  1. Dear Carol,

Your photo is so pretty! Enjoy the sunshine for me. There has been rain for days and days, but we have our twinkle lights, and that is almost as good. We are hoping for a white Christmas, even if only briefly. A rare inch of snow is predicted tomorrow morning, to be washed away by afternoon rains. We’ll take what we can get! Best wishes for a Merry Christmas!

I love the sound of your Christmas gifts, Carol. Ours is coming tomorrow soon after noon. But are you 100% convinced there really is a sun? If you are, please send it our way!

Oh Kathy, I’m so sorry! I selfishly kept the sun so it would melt the ice on the roads while we were in town. Now I’m home again, but the sun has gone into hiding.
