Blame it on Bookbub

Yesterday was a sunny day, and this is what I saw when I looked out the window. There is not a lot of variety to offer in photos these days, since I have not ventured out of my neighborhood since Friday. I’ve been hunkered in, waiting for the snow to remove itself from the roads. But it just keeps falling. The plus is that we get to see scenes of beauty as a result.

So since I’ve been inside, I should be getting lots done, shouldn’t I? But I have not. I’ve gotten a little done. Just a little. Blame it on Bookbub. Since I signed up for daily notices about the book bargains that are out there for e-readers, I have been busy filling up my libraries. I have paid full price for far too many bestsellers that I have struggled to read, or just given up on entirely. That really bothers me. It doesn’t bother me if I’ve found a free book and don’t care enough to finish it. It bothers me little if I’ve only paid $2.99 (or less) for a book and don’t care enough to finish it. Which means since I found Bookbub.com I have found something that appeals nearly every day. Now I must either spend a good deal more of the time each day reading than I usually do, or I must live a very long time to finish the books I have acquired and will be acquiring.

A good thing is that the dog and cat hair does not show so much on the carpet. Vacuuming can wait another day. Or two. We have leftovers in the refrigerator for dinner, so I won’t need to cook a meal tonight. Reheating doesn’t take much time. There are things I want to get done before the kids arrive for the holidays. But they aren’t getting here until Monday night, so I still have time. I will put them on notice, however – if everything is not shiny and bright and spic and span – look at the Christmas tree. Isn’t it quite lovely? It shines and is bright. Their beds have clean linens on them. The cupboards will contain food, and what they don’t contain we will purchase because we will certainly be going shopping. What more could they possibly want?

Blame it on Bookbub. It has nothing to do with the fact that I’m quite lazy. It has nothing to do with the fact that I dislike housework and that I am a master of a procrastinator. Hey! The laundry is up to date and the counters are free of dirty dishes. What more is needed?

My other newest fascination is with our Roku player and Amazon’s Cloud. I discovered I could upload all of our Christmas music – all 111 songs – to the Cloud and then I could stream that music to our TV through the Roku. No fussing with changing CDs. The music plays in sequence – alphabetically by song name unless you hit shuffle, so it is not 40 minutes of one artist. Did you know that it is possible to hear all 111 songs in less than a full day? It is. We did it. I must confess that to gain that number of songs there are several versions of the same songs, but by different artists. I have lots of other music in the Cloud too, just waiting its turn.

So you see, there is much to keep me occupied. Blame it on Bookbub.
