Let Them Lay Where They Wish

Sleeping or not, my furry girls seem to think it should be just fine with me wherever they choose to be. Do I not understand the pecking order in this household or something? I should also recognize that variety is, after all, the spice of life and they cannot possibly stay in one spot.

Lily, in particular varies her routine. This basket of gloves that lives on the washing machine, right by the back door, was her choice for a few days.

While I might wonder about several things, I am trying to no longer wonder about the girls’ behavior(s). No point, they will do what they will.

Bailey is the most consistent of all of them. She almost always sleeps stretched out, although her stretching out spot might vary a bit.

One of the things I wonder about is why when we call for assistance, the recorded voice on the phone always asks for our phone number. Which usually leads to another recorded voice that also asks for our phone number. Or account number. Then, when finally we get to a real person, the real person asks for the phone or account number. With today’s technology, wouldn’t you think one of those recorded voices could have passed on that information?

Sometimes Shasta gets comfy with her head on the arm of her chair – my movement to get the camera caused an opening of her eyes. Briefly.

Another thing that causes me to wonder is how the heck things like our cell phones manage to move from where we are absolutely certain we left them. I have never seen little legs on them, but obviously they have some tucked away somewhere. Or perhaps they teleport. That’s it, I’m sure! What makes it worse is that they like to run off and hide at a time where we’ve had to shut them off for one reason or another and have failed to remember to turn them back on. With today’s technology, wouldn’t you think they could have a way to set them to come back on after a given amount of time?

Other times, Shasta just lets it all hang out and sleeps quite comfortably.

I wonder where dust comes from. I wonder how it manages to so quickly coat those surfaces I swear I just cleaned off.

Sometimes Lily finds her spot wherever the sun might be.

I wonder how two people can create so much laundry.

Twiggy manages to drape her body quite comfortably so that she gets the maximum amount of sun.

I wonder why the elves don’t take care of things like emptying the dishwasher, the washing machine, the dryer – all those things I seem to have trouble remembering to do. Or why our brains don’t have reliable timers.

What I am wondering right now, right this minute, is why I seem to feel a need to put words together to form sentences, and sentences together to form paragraphs, when really it’s obvious I have nothing to say.

  2. I thought that was brilliant and hilarious and you had much to say! I wonder all the same things myself – just never put them into words – see, there was a purpose – speaking my mind! πŸ˜€

I am amused at your musings. And at your animals. My cats have places where they expect the sun to shine, and when winter rolls around, they walk to their expected places and cry belligerently, as if demanding that we pull the sun out for them. Our animals are in control, I have no doubt.

They are all just precious. I just adore Lily. I had a cat similar to her growing up called Baleigh. And this post just proves I want to be a pet. Preferably, one of mine or yours. πŸ™‚ no laundry. No dusting. No dishes.

Well of course you understand the pecking order in your household…don’t we all? We are somewhere beneath the potted plant…I think. πŸ™‚

My pets lay wherever they wish around the house too Carol, but I draw the line at allowing the cats up on the kitchen benches, or the table where food is, but they seem to know instinctively these places are a no-go zone. I really love the photo of Shasta, laying back comfortably on the lounge chair! She knows what comfort is! You have such a lovely and welcoming home Carol, so it’s no wonder the girls are so content. πŸ™‚

I think these rambling sorts of posts are the best kind. They often give us a great glimpse into what is going on in our blogging friends lives and minds. I have seen very similar poses from my fur-children, especially like Shasta’s “letting it all hang out”!

Why DO we feel we need/want to put those words together into sentences and paragraphs and eventually blogs? When there is nothing to say. I mean, dogs and cats lying around. Coyotes yipping. What lights our fire to get our typing fingers going? Thanks for the questions. (Let me know when you get a definitive answer.)
