Share Your World – Week 38

It is time again to join Cee in sharing our worlds.

1. What is most memorable about your high school years? We are now digging into ancient history! I have bits and pieces of memories about my high school years, nothing really life-changing though. I think perhaps what I remember the most about those years is the moving from one place to another, the starting all over in new schools, making new friends. I tended to connect most readily with those who were “outcasts” – not in the “popular” groups.

2. What was the last URL that you bookmarked? Nothing fun at all! We just changed insurance companies, so the very last URL I bookmarked was for the new company so I could set up payment for premiums online. Boring, huh?

3. Name one thing not many people know about you. Gosh, I’m not sure I haven’t already told the world everything about me. Maybe that when I was growing up, I wanted to be an airline stewardess. Then I got too tall. I became a secretary – that’s what most girls did in those days, because what was expected was that we would work for awhile, then get married, have babies and live happily ever after. Life is full of fairy tales like that. I am now living happily ever after, but it sure didn’t come that easily! I remember applying for a job with the telephone company, but I had just gotten married and they wouldn’t hire me because, they said, I would probably get pregnant right away. Ah yes, being female in them there good ole days!

4. What physical attribute do you like about yourself? Can be anywhere from beauty to heart to physical strength. I guess my eyes. I also like that I’m tall, although I have lost some of that height. I wanted to say that my favorite attribute about me is that I think I’m fair, that I try to see clearly both sides of a situation, but I don’t think that’s physical, so I won’t say that.

Today, I’ll share a few pictures taken yesterday evening when I was attempting to capture a photo of a couple of bees that were working very vigorously around a few blooms – the blooms came out just fine, the bees, not so much. They wouldn’t sit still, and I have much to learn about macro photos.

Hope that insurance works our well for you – changing companies can be a real $&@%#!
Also, I’m curious how many petticoats you wore for your secretary job 😉

  2. So glad things have changed nowadays regarding women and work – although the good old concept that the guy would go slave all day to bring home the bacon isn’t such a bad one 🙂 Would be nice if we could just work when and if we felt like it – doing things we really enjoy like blogging and helping animals 🙂

  4. Carol, I think fair is very fine thing to be. I had to laugh at the fact that they used to turn stewardess candidates away for being too tall–my mom was an airline stewardess back in the day when they had to weigh in every time before a flight. Crazy!

I’d take being fair over any physical trait every day of the week!

A lovely trait, fairness. And it is apparent in all that you share with such graciousness and generosity of spirit.

Being blessed with height seems like a good trait too…..at least from the perspective of being 5ft. 3in. short 🙂

Did you enjoy changing schools, back in “ancient times” (lol)? I moved school (and home) once during primary school and once during high school, and absolutely detested it! I’ve lived in the house I’m in now for over 18 years, I dislike moving so much!

Those flower colours, the yellows and blues, are magical together! No wonder the bees were attracted to them .:)

No, I really did not changing schools so much. I liked seeing new places, but I have never liked being the “new kid on the block”. Perhaps I’ll blog about it someday.

I had planted the Bluebeard bush there a couple of years ago, then the black-eyed susans decided to extend their territory. Happy accident!

Thinking about Carol as an airline stewardess now. Yep, I think I wanted to be one some time, too.
