Share Your World – Week 37

It is Monday – Labor Day Monday for those of us in the United States – and Cee has posted her Share Your World questions – glancing at them, I think these will require some thought, as many of them have.

1. Do you believe in the afterlife? Reincarnation? I think so. I would have been more definite about it when I was younger. But wouldn’t it be just amazing to come back, to have another life? Perhaps in a new place, perhaps even being lucky enough that the experience gained in your past life comes back with you? I think that would be – well – priceless!

2. For your computer Mac or Windows based computer? Desktop, laptop or other? Oh. One of each. I have the Windows based desktop with the 27″ monitor that husband ever so graciously agreed that I should have. The desktop is used primarily for photo-editing nowadays. Then I got my Asus Netbook before the trip to Korea because I really really “needed” something for travel, and the laptop is my husband’s. Then came the iPad – it’s my son’s fault – which now gets used the very most and is near my side almost all of the time. The Netbook will still travel with me, on those occasions that might come up allowing for travel, because I cannot upload photos to the iPad and it doesn’t have a whole lot of storage space. I have always been a Windows-based person, but if the desktop were to die and if my budget would permit, I think I would go Mac.

3. If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? Here comes the dream sequence. I would like to witness, wishfully in the not-too-distant future, the leaders of the countries of the world coming together, talking peacefully, shaking hands and meaning it, agreeing to live in harmony, allowing each of us to agree to disagree without rancor. I would like to witness, in the not-too-distant future, an overhaul of our political system, with our so-called “leaders” also agreeing to disagree without rancor but to work together and to remember that their purpose is to do what is best for our country and its people, and to spend our tax dollars at home on things like education, overhauling health care, realizing that other countries, other cultures are not necessarily better off when we try to force our ways down their throats.

4. What are you reading fiction or non-fiction or studying and would you recommend it? I read primarily fiction, although not as much as I used to. I am currently reading The Law of Similars by Chris Bohjalian, and yes, I would recommend it. My wish list on both Barnes and Noble’s Nook book list and Amazon’s Kindle list grow longer regularly, as does my wish list on the library’s ebook section. I also read magazines – Newsweek, The Week, Oprah, sometimes Woman’s Day and others. All on the iPad. Everything is now on the iPad. Life is good.

For photos this day, I shall share a few of Her Royal Highness, Lady Lily, who blessed us with her presence the other morning as she napped and then groomed. Lady Lily spends most of her raucous life which truly is anything but ladylike, out in the yard, harassing other living things.

Couldn’t agree more with your answer to #3. And, as usual, your photos are great!! (Guess Lily doesn’t mind being a model, huh?)

What a lovely little cat! So glad to hear she gets her yard time, too! 🙂

Your views are surprisingly close to mine on those answers. Like you, I would say ‘I think’ so to the first, and add (as you did) that I’d have been more definite about it when I was younger. I think it really is a case of ‘the older you get, the more you realise how little you really know’.

I’m with you on the overhaul of government, too, even if we are in different countries. The ‘first past the post’ system we have is appallingly inequitable.

I probably read more than you do, and mostly real books, but I do now have a Kindle and love it. So lightweight, and it contains a whole mini-library plus two dictionaries! I don’t have an iPad, but OH does, and reads most of his books on it, like you. I chose to go with a MacBook Air this time, which is light enough to travel with me, but gives me the larger screen I need.

I did recently order a real book from Amazon because a blog I stumbled across talked about it, it caught my attention, and Amazon in paperback was the only place I could find it – Amenable Women by Mavis Cheeks.

Carol, I like you! why do you call yourself “elusive” ? you come across more as “effusive” and I mean it as a large compliment. Extremely well done photos of the Lady Lily ! does she allow people to pick her up and love her?

It is not so much that I am elusive, but my mind seems to be more often than I like. I keep saying it’s because I’m “mature” and my hard drive is full. Lily does not like being restrained, although on those nights she chooses to spend inside, she will cuddle next to me to sleep. Our other cat, Twiggy, is much more the lap cat.

It seems like everyone likes your answer to question #3 the best, and I’m no exception! If we had world peace, I could start watching the news again each night on TV! Lol….

The Lily series of photos are magical. I’m such a cat lover, and Lily looks so content, sitting their bathing herself on the armchair. 🙂

Precious photos!! I adore your answers. Your response is the first I’ve read and I have a feeling most people have a little of Mac/Apple and Windows. We shall see as I continue to read responses. Thanks for playing along. You sure make it delightful!
