At last, at long last, spring has arrived in our neck of the woods. The sun is shining, the temperatures are spring warm, and we finally have some blossoms. Life is good!

This bluebird couple is still checking out houses, and so far no swallow disputes! Life is good!
A small commentary: Florida wins once again! Weston, Fla., has outlawed dance halls, nightclubs, and skating rinks, even though it has none. Mayor Eric Hersh said a rise in nightlife-related crime throughout South Florida had convinced officials to adopt the pre-emptive ban. “This is something that we thought would protect the city,” Hersh said. (Quoted from The Week magazine).
No offense to any readers who might be Floridians – it’s just I think you guys have some strange laws.

Interesting about Florida! It seems to me that most American States have a few very weird laws! They are often quoted on quiz/comedy shows over here! The new Florida one does seem a bit over the top – somehow I don’t think stopping crime is that simple!

As far as the Florida laws go, I’m not sure why we haven’t learned our lesson from Prohibition. Outlawing something seems to do very little by way of stopping unwanted behaviors.
