Collision with my Cat = New Glasses

You know the old, my dog ate my homework story? Well, I have a new version of that for you. I had a collision with my cat the other day, and now I need new glasses. ‘Tis true, ’tis true. She was jumping up from one surface to another much higher surface, and with absolutely impreccable timing, I stepped in front of her just as she launched. She hit me in the side of my head, right where the arm of my glasses goes. No breakage, just a few little cracks in my pride. How embarrassing to have to admit your cat knocked your glasses off and you a wee bit crazy because you interrupted her launch.

Grosbeak have found the thistle seed. Greedy Grosbeak.

Back to my tale of woe. The glasses are not broken, but they are out of adjustment and I can’t find the magic combination. They’re fine for distance, not so fine for close up. Because I buy my glasses online, they seem to be difficult for local optometrists to deal with when it comes to having them adjusted. Because I buy them online it costs less than $50 for a pair of progressive lenses in frames I like. My justification then is that I should be able to spend $50 a year for glasses, giving me opportunity to try a new style of frames. A little variety is good for the soul. And no, I did not set this up with Twiggy the cat.

Wednesday morning, this little conifer outside my morning room window was full of pine siskin dining on the seed pods. Forgive the glare of the window, but the sun was shining brightly on it and I could not change my position because if I moved, the birds left. Twiggy was in another window, chattering at the birds which is what drew my attention to them. Yes, the glasses destroyer Twiggy.

This morning that same shrub looked like this. The dark hours brought us white rain. Not to be confused with the shampoo. Do they still make White Rain shampoo? Am I dating myself really seriously here? The white has all gone now although there have been periodic episodes of it all day. Right now the sun is trying to shine. Just wait a moment though – it’ll be something different. We are having a positive spring – positively schizophrenic.

My post yesterday commented on Canada’s prime minister appointing members of their “congress”. Colleen ever so kindly gave an explanation of their Parliament (duh, of course I really did know that Canada has a Parliament, not a Congress) and how that works. Thank you, Colleen. I also posted a reply on the post to her comment, but if many of you are like me, I rarely go back to see if my comment has elicited a return comment. It comes down to Canadians also think they need changes. I guess we all need to put our heads together, and maybe we can come up with a workable solution. You don’t suppose Thomas and John and some of their compatriots would care to join us, do you?

Stay safe and avoid collisions with your cats, please.

I apparently have a small head, and so I wear children’s frames. Never collided with a cat, but we have to keep glasses hidden when we’re not wearing them because male cat is a chewer of ear pieces.
We’ve had some April snow, but no lasting accumulation. Satisfactory 🙂

Heaher, apparently it is Male Cat’s job to make sure you pck up after yourselves. I would probably go through a lot of ear pieces before I started remembering to hide my glasses at night. Or to put them in those handy dandy cases that come with them. Oh yeah, that’s what those cases are for!

And to think you were WEARING your glasses when she launched so you should have been able to SEE her! 🙂

I’m sorry but I couldn’t stop laughing when I read that. I’ve done similar things. Once they launch there’s not a lot you can do to stop it…. sans stepping in the line of fire!

Don’t you hate it when your glasses are catawampus? (tee hee, get it? Cat-a-wampus?) My glasses were askew a few weeks ago–the lens even fell out–and it felt like the whole world was uncentered. Hope you get your glasses fixed soon and the world stabilizes.

Oh my goodness! What a kitty collision!
I find your grosbeaks very interesting. I don’t think we have them around here. I was considering hanging a thistle feeder to attract finches.

Karma, another of those “Duh” moments – thank you for the WordPress notification reminder. Sometimes the most obvious is what is hardest to see.

I’m so sorry you had a glasses fatality. When I read the line “interrupted her launch,” I read it as “lunch” and then saw the picture of the birds. I had to do a double take. Surely THAT’s not what Carol meant! 🙂 Maybe my eyes need adjusting!?
