Sharing More of My World

It’s Monday again, and Cee’s Life Photography has issued her invitation to each of us to share a bit more of our world. Here goes nothing!
What is one of your quirky traits? My money (paper bills) in my wallet must be in the proper sequence: first are the ones, then fives, then tens, and so on. They also must all be facing forward, and upright. No backwards, no upside-down, none of that allowed. This, of course, is presuming that I actually have paper bills in my wallet. That is not always the case. This trait stems, I’m sure, from when I was a concession stand attendant/cashier at a theater when I was in business school. Back then, money being in proper order was required, and counting out change was required. In addition, that meant some basic math skills were required, since our cash registers did not tell us what the proper amount of change was. We actually had to figure it out ourselves. Can you imagine such a thing?!

If you could be given ANY gift what would it be? The ability to be the soothing comfort I would like to be for my loved ones when they are suffering. Or maybe the ability to remember where those “safe places” are that I put important (and not-so-important) things.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Oh gosh, can I just lump it all together and say housework? No? Darn! Okay, so I think the chore I hate the very most is dusting. I love how things look when it’s done, but I hate the process of having to move all of this stuff I’ve accumulated over the years, dusting it and the surface on which it sits and then getting it back in place. I know, I know. The obvious answer is to sort and eliminate. One of these days I will wake up in the proper ruthless mood and do just that.

If you could play any sport professionally what would it be? Swimming. Not diving, that requires going off edges way up there, but synchronized swimming would be good. When I was young and used to go swimming a lot, I loved the feeling of the water sliding over my body. I also liked archery, the little bit of it we did in phys ed. I am now a professional viewer of some sports. And a professional procrastinator when it comes to getting exercise, a lot of which is involved in sports. Well, maybe not so professional, since I receive no remuneration for any of this, but I definitely am an expert at the procrastination part.

Because I feel a need to put photos in my blog posts, here are three of them, all from our trip back east. These were taken in the village of Mystic, Connecticut.

  1. Awesome photos. I feel your pain when it comes to dusting and the procrastination. I’m a procrastinator from wayyyyyy back, and come from a longgggg line of them. Hallie, my daughter, doesn’t have a chance. I’ve already ruined her. 😦

Love your blog. Thanks for stopping by and the Comment. 😉 Always nice to make new friends.

  3. I have discovered the danger of “safe” places. Putting something in such a place almost always guarantees losing it. That has happened to me more times than I would like to admit.

Wonderful photographs….I love them all. Best of all I love your answer to number 2. I’m with you on housekeeping…dusting in Oregon is messy and nasty. That is for sure.

I am with you on the money thing. All has to be the same way. I think it’s partly an accounting thing and partly from like you said, concession stand work.

I am also with you on dusting…. HATE IT…. is part of housework….right? LOL

Isn’t it funny how our past experiences influence the little quirks in our personality? I’m with you on the one gift…both of them! I hate ironing and think Downy Wrinkle Release is a wonderful invention. 😉
