This little girl chose to go out on the deck and let the snowflakes make sparkles on her black fur.

These girls opted to stay inside where it was warm and dry. Okay, so Shasta had gone outside, but did not stay very long. Lily looked out, and decided inside was better. Rare for her. Twiggy was curled up somewhere staying warm.

The wind blew and the snow flew all day and into the night Friday. Although you cannot truly see the depth in these pictures, a reliable source said we got 10″.

You realize that meant that I was out there Saturday shoveling decks, don’t you? Although I had gone out twice during the day Friday to shovel, lots more came down overnight. Fortunately, we have a neighbor/friend who has a truck-mounted snowblower and he was out bright and early clearing the neighborhood street and driveways. Another of our blessings. This morning my weather sources reported temps of -15, -18 and -20. I think it matters not which was most accurate, that’s cold! Today is an inside day. Tonight we’ll have beef stew prepared by the Artistic One. Perfect for this weather!

You see it don’t you? The “enough” that this life provides?

  1. Beautiful snow-dusted pictures. We’re getting it right now (about an hour north of Chicago). I love your snazzy new gravatar photograph!

First I want to say I adore your new gravatar!!! Redhatters are some of the most fun people. -20 now that is way way to cold for us here in Oregon. I think we bottom out at 9 or 11 this morning. But where I live we are not suppose to get freezing. Your photos of the snow are beautiful though.

  3. Wow that is alot of snow and cold air. Even in the NE we have not seen that yet. Could change by tomorrow. I know my kids are hoping for a snow day. Glad you have neighbors to help you dig out.

  4. Brrrr: -15, -18, -20! And I thought it was cold here in Virginia at around 30 (+) today! We got a dusting of snow, but not nearly as much as you. Keep warm!

Beautiful! But yes, it is a lot of work, and also a good excuse to stay inside for a day of reading and soup!

  6. Heather says:

A neighbor who gifts snowplowing is a great neighbor! And beef stew? Absolutely perfect. Hope you stayed warm, my friend!

  7. Heather says:

Oh – I also meant to say that despite the work it brings, that snow is sure pretty to look at :) The view out your windows is so cheerful now!

  8. LG says:

    Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
The two things I miss about having moved out of USA are the snow and the pastries.

  9. Angelia Sims says:

Beautiful! WOW. That is so much snow. I think it most definitely is winter where you are and it really MUST be winter since it is winter here too. :-) Hope the birdies can get to their chow house. :-)

  10. Robin says:

Beautiful winter images, Carol. I do see it. :)

  11. Dawn says:

I think you are correct. Darn.

    The view is beautiful–from inside!

Lovely, sparkly scenes! You have much more snow than we do, although I think ours is coming soon. Lord knows the winter temps are here….it’s been in the single digits for lows with minus temps for wind chills. Brrrrrrr! The Golfer from Florida is thrilled (NOT!).

  16. Hi Carol,
Oh, my gosh! Yes, I would definitely say that winter had arrived! I love the photos, and especially the one looking out from your cozy house at the perfect snow scene. We had a week of weather in the thirties, and it went down to the twenties at night, but no snow. As long as there is snow, I wouldn’t mind so much. Still looking forward to our first snow. Thanks for another great post, Carol.

  17. Karma says:

Yep, winter has arrived over on this side of the country too. Mama Nature cares not that the calendar does not say December 21st yet. I expect my morning views tomorrow to be similar to yours. The dogs will be a bit more gleeful about it than I will!

  18. Kathy says:

Winter is definitely here! I like the picture especially through your window with the stained glass decorations. We’re heading out to fill the wood room very soon.

I'd love to hear from you!
