Yesterday when we came home from our buffalo hunt, we turned on the living room TV to check the progress of Romeo and Juliet and their family. At first, this is what we saw – Juliet sitting on her nest, as a good mother does.
Then Juliet left on her break, and Romeo came on duty – wait! What’s that? To the left of Romeo’s beak – wow! It’s a baby! This led to frantic shouting on my part to get everyone to come and see. When mom shouts, Gep and Kat do respond, which led to more oooooohs and aaaaaahs.
Romeo moved a bit – oh! It looks like two babies!
Finally, waiting for Juliet to return, Romeo moved up to peer out the opening of the nest house and we had a better view. Two babies, two eggs left. I apologize for the picture quality – I have not figured out how to get good photos of this TV, so the scan lines interfere and the babies blend very well into the nest. It won’t be long before their dark feathers will begin to come in and they will be more obvious.
Just had to share this exciting news with all of you!

Yay!! That is so sweet!!
Way Cool!! Perhaps you’ll catch one of the remaining babies “being born.”
To Sheri and all who followed with the wish to catch a hatch in process – I have been perched on the sofa facing that TV all morning and now we have 3 – but they hatch while mom is sitting on them, so pictures do not happen.
So cool! I’ll hope with Sheri that you catch one hatching
This is so wonderful! I agree, to see one hatching would be even more so
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see more!
This would be fascinating to watch. Course I couldn’t leave ‘cos I wouldn’t know what I’d miss, so nothing else would get done … that’s not so bad.
Way cooooooool!
Congrats to you and the newest feet in your family, always adding love to a home. I think this is so cool. Now the watching of the nurturing and growing up begins. What fun Carol. Thanks so much for sharing this!!
Hugs, ~ BB
That’s so exciting!!!
Congrats on becoming grandbird-parents! I saw a robin fledgling in the yard last night. No idea where the nest is.
How exciting to see this all happening first hand.
